MODA Blog’s Holy Grail Products: Juliet
Every product junkie knows that the ultimate reason behind racking up drawers and drawers of new lipsticks, concealers, powders, etc., is to find a holy grail. Holy grail products are those magical items that are just right–right texture, right color, right finish, right lasting power–and that’s what makes them so difficult to find. In honor of that search, MODA Blog has decided to share some of our holy grail products in a new series. Every week, a different blogger will discuss their three all-time favorite beauty products, which can include anything from makeup to skincare to hair care. We’ll get a peak into the beauty lives of our MODA bloggers and hopefully, discover some new holy grail products of our own.
Today, our Arts & Entertainment Editor Juliet shares her favorites!
Hera UV Mist Cushion
If there is one thing that I recommend to people, it's cushion foundation. My go-to cushion foundation is Hera's UV Mist Cushion. I love this foundation because it leaves my skin looking soft and not cakey. Because it's shaped like a compact (sponge and mirror included), I throw it into my bag and reapply throughout the day. Working in an office or even the Reg can leave your skin looking dull, but a quick touch-up with this product will freshen you right up! It also contains SPF, which is perfect for the summer weather. Unfortunately, the color range isn't large, so if you have darker skin tones, this may not be the product for you.
Holika Holika Magic Pole Mascara
Despite the odd-sounding name, this mascara is my lifesaver. For those days when I'm too lazy to grab my eyeliner, I reach for this product. After curling my lashes, I put around 2 coats, and I'm out the door! The formula is long-lasting and holds the curl, which is especially important since my Asian lashes are more on the flimsy side. Even after a long night of dancing, my lashes look the same as when I first put the mascara on! My lashes also tend to have no life and disappear, but this mascara makes sure that each eyelash is coated with the formula, creating more depth. It doesn't clump easily, and the ball at the tip allows me to reach the tiny lashes and add more volume. I already bought my second tube to use for when I run out!
As I was thinking about my daily routine, I realized that I could not leave this product out of this list. As some of you may know, I dye my hair every time I go back home for vacation. However, because I dye it a natural brown as opposed to my traditional black, it's not that noticeable.
But let me tell you, my hair can tell. I naturally don't have the strongest hair, so with the constant perms and coloring, the ends of my hair started to split, and it overall became really dry.
What's made the "healing" process for my hair go more smoothly and quickly is the Moroccan Oil! Though it seems like a splurge as one bottle goes for $44, one bottle goes a long way. After towel drying my wet hair, I lather 3 pumps of the oil onto my hair, starting with the tips and heading to the roots. What I love is that once you blow-dry your hair, your hair comes out silky and smooth, just like you had gone to the hair stylist! And just because it's oil, don't worry, your hair will not come out greasy. After putting the oil onto my hair, it becomes much more manageable and easy to style, so I like to apply it especially before I have to curl or straighten it. It's a product that I repurchase every time I run out and probably will continue to do so.
