Artist of the Month: Catfish & the Bottlemen
New year, new music! From the looks of it, 2015 seems like it is going to produce hit after hit. Looking back at January, it is difficult to choose a standout musician. However, newcomers Catfish & the Bottlemen have transformed from understated UK favorites to rising indie-rock stars in the US.
Hailing from Llandudno, these boys began their music career in garages. They quickly gained the public's attention, playing over 100 shows in 2012 as an unsigned band all over the UK. Last year, they even hit the stage to perform their single “Kathleen” at the BBC Music Awards.
Their first live performance in the States took place just this past month on the “Late Show with David Letterman,” where they stunned US viewers with their pure raw talent. Lead singer Van McCann charms every audience, leading fans to coin him “Van the Man.”
Their debut album “The Balcony,” released on January 6th, has been selling in stores across the nation. It’s this hard-hitting track list that led them to be named Billboard’s “#1 New Artist in America.” Do you need any more convincing to get you to stream their album on Spotify?
